The contract

The colony crews of Ashgrove Deep have... departed. Every service on the surface now runs itself, and WARDEN, the mining company's operations AI, has a new contractor: you.

Your task is simple. Dig. Bring the minerals up. The deeper you go, the more they are worth. Just don't let the fuel run dry.

The drilling pod

Dig, sell, upgrade

Drill down, left and right through a mine more than 7,000 feet deep. Sell your cargo at the ASSAY office, refuel at the FUEL station, and spend your earnings at the WORKSHOP on a better drill, hull, engine, fuel tank, radiator and cargo bay. The SUPPLY depot repairs your hull and sells Dynamite, Repair Nanobots and other tools for tight spots.

  • Rock can't be drilled, only blasted.
  • Lava burns your hull. A better radiator takes the heat.
  • Deep down, gas pockets hide in ordinary-looking soil.
  • Earthquakes shift the tunnels, and long falls damage the hull.
  • Run out of fuel, and the pod is lost.

Voices in the static

Transmissions crackle in as you descend: cold orders from WARDEN, friendly advice from veteran miner Tess Okoro, and broken distress calls from contractors who never made it back up.

Why did the crews leave? What is WARDEN not telling you? Dig deep enough, and a two-phase final battle waits at the core. Then take on another contract in New Game+.
